Organized to unlock potential
Healthtech Concentrator
At its heart, the Global CoCreation Lab is a concentrator of talent and resources working in concert on strategic health technology innovation opportunities. Our structure and programs are designed to unite Miami’s healthcare, research, and business communities with international biomedical innovation centers.
Our primary objective is to launch innovation-driven enterprises with early traction and superior product-market fit, rooted in Miami-Dade, with regional and global projection. We expect three organic and interdependent areas of impact that can contribute to stimulate, grow, and sustain an innovation ecosystem for healthcare, medicine, and biotech:
- Higher concentration of high-tech businesses and services in healthcare, medicine, and biotech, simultaneously acting as a magnet to attract, retain, and develop human talent, through knowledge and technology transfers, and opportunities for research’s impact.
- Creation (through stakeholders’ cocreation) of specialized demand that can provide early traction for startups translating health technologies into the marketplace, while improving the probabilities of securing follow on investments to scale-up.
- Development of new Miami engineering, scientific, and business leadership, with culturally adapted/grown best practices and policy to support organic connections between corporate innovation needs and the startup community, as an equitable social model to externalize and accelerate innovation.
Affinity Groups
Our co-creation methodology systematically coalesces diverse stakeholders in Affinity Groups to create new healthcare technologies and innovation-based enterprises. Affinity groups leverage medical and technology strengths across healthcare settings to improve outcomes, increase quality, and reduce cost.
Each Affinity Group comprises projects, which are led by Fellows who attract and coordinate diverse collaborators. Projects advance in the Global CoCreation Lab when they:
- Meet a strong market or regulatory trend that justifies investment
- Demonstrate viable prototype technologies
- Can engage partners in research and development

Wellness Home
Our homes are the central scenes in the epic dramas of our lives. Can they also play an active role? Imagine homes that know—even anticipate—when you need special care. Imagine real estate developers collaborating with doctors and technologists to make homes that prevent injury, manage health, and enable dignified aging.
